Your body is miraculous, naturally shedding your baby teeth for larger adult teeth. Most of your adult teeth grow in between the ages of 12 and 14, with the exception of your wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are a third set of molars that grow in between the ages of 15 and 20. However, your dentist may suggest wisdom teeth removal.
If you arenโt sure if you or your child need to have the third molars removed, schedule an appointment with Clairpointe Family Dental in St. Clair Shores, MI. Our exceptional team is led by Dr. Remy Ajluni. Weโll assess the angle the molars are set to grow in to determine if they should be extracted.
COMPLETE ORAL EXAM
A comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and oral health.
X-RAYS
X-rays identify the precise angle wisdom teeth are set to grow in.
WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTION
If extraction is required, we provide oral surgery and post-op care.
If youโre experiencing unidentified pain in your teeth and gums, it may be your wisdom teeth!
Wisdom Teeth Extraction in St. Clair Shores
Approximately 85% of teens and young adults have their wisdom teeth removed before they grow in. This eliminates the risk of a variety of problems, including misalignment and pain. X-rays are the only way to determine if you or your childโs third molars need to be removed to avoid painful complications.
Modern diets are easy to chew, so thereโs no functional need for wisdom teeth. If they grow in, youโll have an additional set of molars, but they may disrupt your smile. The pressure caused by your new teeth can shift and tilt your existing teeth. Whether your teeth are naturally straight, perfectly imperfect, or youโve invested in professional teeth straighteningโyour wisdom teeth can undue your alignment!
Beyond aesthetics, this can cause pain and bite problems. Misalignment also makes brushing and flossing less effective, increasing your risk for cavities, tooth decay, and other oral health concerns.
In some cases, thereโs no room for your molars to grow in, which causes extremely painful impaction. Impaction must be addressed to avoid infection.
Should I Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed?
Dentists suggest extraction for approximately 85% of teens and young adults between the ages of 15 and 20. An X-ray allows Clairpointe Family Dental to determine if thereโs room in your mouth for your wisdom teeth and if theyโre likely to grow in at a concerning angle.
Why Have Your Wisdom Teeth Removed?
When your molars start growing in, it can be painful. If Dr. Remy Ajluniย suggests wisdom teeth extraction, itโs to avoid any combination of the following:
ย ย ย ย Pain
ย ย ย ย Inflammation
ย ย ย ย Infection
ย ย ย ย Crowding
ย ย ย ย Impacted teeth
ย ย ย ย Sinus problems
ย ย ย ย Damage to surrounding teeth
ย ย ย ย Increased risk of tooth decay
ย ย ย ย Tilting, shifting, and misalignment
If the third molars have begun growing in, itโs not too late to extract them.
Recovering From Wisdom Teeth Surgery in St. Clair Shores
Dr. Remy Ajluni and the skilled team at Clairpointe Family Dental ensure your comfort during surgery. Weโll discuss your sedation options and provide personalized pre- and post-op care. Most patients are candidates for IV sedation.
Someone will need to drive you home from your surgery, and youโll need to eat soft foods for the next 24 hours.
Pain and swelling will occur, so weโll provide a pain management plan. If food impaction, extreme pain, fever, or severe bleeding occurโcall our office or seek emergency medical care.
Otherwise, weโll schedule a follow-up appointment 2 weeks post-surgery.
The only way to determine if you or your child need to have the wisdom teeth removed is by analyzing your X-rays to determine the angle theyโre set to grow in.
I've gone to Clairpointe for over 20 years now, and have always been pleased with their services. The staff is very knowledgeable and pleasant, and make you feel right at home. Dr. Rita alwaya presents all available options and payment plans are available. Whenever I've had an emergency during off hours, she's come in to take care of me. Couldn't ask for a better dentist!
I drive over an hour just to see Dr. Reem, and she is absolutely worth it. She is by far the best dentist I have ever had. I used to have a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist, but from my very first visit she made me feel completely comfortable and at ease. Dr. Reem is incredibly welcoming, kind, patient, and genuinely caring. She takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, answers all of my questions, and never makes me feel rushed.<br><br>Her professionalism and attention to detail are unmatched, and you can tell she truly cares about her patients and their experience. Nice clean place , friendly staff , pricing is competitive. Dr Neena did my first visit , very friendly and professional making sure I was comfortable. I needed a cleaning but the hygienist is many months out , so Dr Neena had some spare time and did my cleaning also. I would most definitely recommend this facility to anyone I know.
Dr.Rita and assoc. and staff are professional, kind and courteous. They are extremely helpful with scheduling and take all precautions to keep you and themselves safe. My mother had her first appointment with Dr. Gehlert and her staff today. She is pleased with her experience and how kind everyone was to her. She looks forward to her future visits.
I have had strong concerns about finding a new dentist. Had my first appointment with Dr. Gehlert today. Could not have been more satisfied with my entire experience. The office is professional, but friendly. I have some knowledge of dentistry and was completely impressed with everyone in the office and the office environment.<br>I am so relieved to think I have found a new dentist in an office that I feel confident with.
I had a very good experience that Clairpointe Family Dental! I am new to the area and did not yet established with a dentist until I had a problem. The staff over the phone were very kind and were able to get me in right away, before a holiday weekend. I did not have any long wait times when I got to the office. The staff and the doctor were extremely friendly for my whole visit. This was an excellent experience and I would recommend this to any new patient looking for a dentist to establish with!
I recently transferred to Clairpointe at the recommendation of a friend and could not be more pleased. I have severe dental anxiety and their entire team has been so welcoming and supportive. Wish I had made the move a few years ago.
Iโve been bringing my almost 11 year old since she was a baby and my 6 year old twins since they were babies. Lindsey has encouraged it from the beginning and because of this, my kids have all been successfully getting their teeth cleaned since they were 2!!! She lets them hold and use the water tool and sucker tool (not sure of proper names, sorry!) themselves and gives the tools silly names, so they happily sit there and let her do her thing! They have never shed a tear or asked not to go to the dentist. They have no fear of dentist appts thanks to her! All the staff are very friendly, patient, and gentle when interacting with my kids and myself. They give compliments to boost their self esteem. I drive 40 minutes to come to this office when there are more than 5 dentist offices within 5 minutes of my house. This office is the best!!!
It's always a pleasure going to the dentist when you have so many nice people working there ! I have been going there so long I think of all of you as friends. Thank you for always caring and knowing just what to do to keep me calm. ๐

I experienced dental cleaning today from Jill at Clairpointe.<br>The office had a water shut off but Jill still did the job. I arrived early to see if I could get to another appointment i had, (my error). I was able to my other appointment and am grateful to Clairpointe. My teeth feel fabulous!
I used Microsoft Copilot to help me find a new dentist office after mine of 30+ years was acquired by a corporation and underwent too many changes that dissatisfied me. Clairpointe was the perfect landing spot for me. Clean, efficient environment with a very friendly and supportive staff. The amusing part about this place is that everyone has a beautiful smile. ๐
My husband and I have been patients of this dental practice for over 20 years. We have had general cleanings, fillings, night guards and bridge work completed. It can be difficult to find a dental practice which you trust and that make you feel at ease. The Clairpointe staff from front and back office to clinical staff are friendly, efficient, trustworthy and excellent at their jobs. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else!
Nobody likes to go to the dentist... But if you get a great dentist it makes it much easier, Dr Gehlert at Clairpoint Dental in St Clair Shores is the very best. The staff is so caring and efficient. Professional, friendly, caring, and compassionate staff, assistants, hygienists and doctors! I continue to use Clairpointe Family Dental for my dental exams and dental needs even though I now live 3.5 hours away.
This is my place "not literally." I am 37 years old. Been coming here my whole life, my mom was a patient before I was born. These days, I live an hour away and still make the drive in for myself, wife and kids anytime one of us needs their services. Not only out of habit, but because they are good honest people. From the first second you walk in the door until you walk back out, you will be taken care of. If you are a personable character and enjoy human interaction, this is the place for you. If you happen to check clairpointe family dental out after reading this review, tell them I sent you ๐
My experience with Clairpointe is that it's always been "Pain Free"<br>and I appreciate that (thank you). It's almost fun going to an appointment. <chuckle>
