I have loved this practice for years and even after moving across the city, I continued to be a patient here because I loved this office, the staff, and all the dentists. However, I do feel compelled to share my recent experience that has led me to leave this dental practice.

I had a single tooth that was sensitive and over the course of nearly three years, I saw all three dentists at this office (Dr. Budnick who is no longer there, Dr. Gehlert, and Dr. Zohrob) regarding this issue. I was first told that it was due to my tooth shifting slightly, and I then wore my retainers every single day without improvement in my symptoms. I was then told that it was due to traumatic occlusion, or my tooth hitting other teeth with my bite, and even after shaving a part of the tooth down so it wouldn’t hit my other teeth, I still experienced the symptoms. Finally, one of the dentists thought that I might need aligners to help with the tooth. I decided to consult with an orthodontist who took one look at my tooth, noticed it was slightly off color from the rest, and said that together with my symptoms, I needed to see an endodontist for a likely root canal. I was shocked as none of the previous dentists had ever brought up my tooth dying as being a potential concern or cause of my symptoms. It is perplexing to me how an orthodontist diagnosed this issue that three dentists overlooked.

I did end up seeing the endodontist who confirmed the need for a root canal, and that has since solved all my issues. My endodontist also immediately identified that I had a rare congenital anomaly that was the cause of my dental issues. None of the dentists at Clairpointe Family Dental had ever mentioned this anomaly to me. The anomaly is in fact visible on X-ray, however, and they had told me that it was just a “weird looking deep filling”.

After all is said and done, I did intend to stay a patient at Clairpointe Family Dental but they were only able to get me in for a permanent filling over 6 weeks after my root canal even though my endodontist recommended the permanent restoration within a couple of weeks due to the complex nature of my dental anomaly. They simply told me that endodontists always recommend getting it done ASAP but in actuality 6 weeks is normal and they were unable to get me in any sooner. Unfortunately I did not want to go based off the recommendation of the receptionist when my endodontist had specifically recommended otherwise so I have since found a new dentist. Perhaps if you just have routine issues and need regular cleanings, Clairpointe Family Dental will be fine for your needs, but for diagnosing other issues, I unfortunately would recommend you look elsewhere.
